Roy Ashburn (R-Calif.), the fierce opponent of gay rights who was arrested last week for drunk driving after leaving a gay nightclub, confirmed in a radio interview Monday that he is gay.

Howard Zinn, the Boston University historian and political activist who was an early opponent of US involvement in Vietnam and a leading faculty critic of BU president John Silber, died of a heart attack today in Santa Monica, Calif, where he was traveling, his family said.
He was 87.

Talking Points Memo reports that a health care protester in New Mexico has been encouraging those following him on Twitter to bring their guns to town hall meetings ? and use them against ACORN and SEIU if provoked.
SEIU, in particular, appears the to be latest boogeyman for the anti-health care protesters.

I dont know if weve ever had an opponent who is so disliked by Republicans as Al Franken, said MN GOP Party Chair Ron Carey, who cautioned that Colemans challenge could still turn the results back his way.
