Scientists working on a breath test to detect cancer said they were now able to identify different types of the disease, in research published Wednesday.
Their preliminary results, printed in the British Journal of Cancer monthly, showed the researchers’ sensors could distinguish whether a patient had lung, breast, bowel or prostate cancer, irrespective of age, gender or lifestyle.

Given how hard it is for banks to justify writing down debt when the borrower can afford the loan, the rise in strategic defaults may be unstoppable.

In an unsurprising development, the Israeli military’s investigation of the boarding of a Turkish ship in international waters in which IDF soldiers killed nine–including a US citizen–found that there was no wrongdoing and, despite intelligence problems, was “justified” and even “estimable.”

FDIC fees are up a good 700% over 2007 rates at many banks.
This has cut sharply into profits and impaired the ability of small banks to raise capital. These firms are paying for the sins of the large banks and it is an unreasonable handicap. As usual, it’s “advantage, big banks.”

Mr Abbas agreed to resume indirect talks with the Israelis in May only under extreme pressure.
Since then he has been resisting offers to resume face to face direct negotiations. Following a meeting with Netanyahu last week, Obama has hoped direct talks will start soon - looks like that’s unlikely from the Palestinian stand.
